Better Cotton coordinator position

The Better Cotton Initiative invites applications for the post of Pakistan Regional Coordinator. It is envisaged that the Pakistan Regional Coordinator, who will be located in Lahore, will receive a fixed-term contract for a 3-year period. There will be a 6-month probationary period. First round phone interviews will take place during the week of 29 March. Second round interviews will take place during either the week of 12 April or 29 April, in Lahore. The commencement date will be May 2010, or as soon as possible after this date."

Oxfam report on Pakistan and climate change

Climate change increases the vulnerability of poor communities in Pakistan According  to  a  new study published today by Oxfam Great Britain, climate change,  along  with  local  environment degradation, is pushing vulnerable farming  and  fishing communities in Pakistan towards increased poverty and suffering. The  community-based  research:  "Climate Change, Poverty and Environmental Crisis  in  the  Disaster  Prone  Areas of Pakistan" was conducted in three provinces  in  Pakistan.  The  findings  reveal that the inhabitants of all these three areas are not only aware that climate is changing, but they are also acutely perceptive about the adverse impacts it has on their lives and livelihoods. Wetlands management training

International Training of Trainers on Wetlands Management
The Pakistan Wetlands Programme is hosting an International Training of Trainers Programme on Wetlands Management. The course aims to impart the necessary knowledge and skills to the participants for developing a sound understanding about the significance of multi-stakeholder processes in wetlands management. Under this premise, the main focus of the training course will be on understanding the significance of identifying common areas of interest for various stakeholder groups.  The enhancing of participatory planning and creation of collaborative partnerships for effective wetlands management will also be emphasised.  An important practical aspect of this course is to enable the participants to design and develop curricula for their respective regions or areas.
